Destin High School beach volleyball program’s mission is to empower and inspire young female athletes through the sport of volleyball. We strive to create a positive and inclusive environment where girls can develop their skills, build confidence, and forge lifelong friendships. Our dedicated coaches and staff are committed to nurturing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our players, fostering a love for the game, and instilling core values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Through training, competition, and personal growth opportunities, we aim to equip our athletes with the tools they need to excel not only on the court but also in all aspects of life.
We believe in the power of volleyball to shape young women into strong, resilient, and accomplished individuals!
Coach Saleena Walker Email: beachvball@destinhigh.org
Coach Saleena Walker is joining Destin High School in the spring of 2024 as the head coach of the beach volleyball program. Saleena has played and coached globally in tournaments in Asia and Europe, plus Hawaii, Texas, Colorado, and almost every state east of the Mississippi River.
Saleena played primarily grass and beach volleyball before transitioning to indoor volleyball in South Carolina at Bob Jones University. At Bob Jones University, Saleena was a four-year starter for the program. During her time there, her team won two national championships, and she earned multiple all-region, all-tournament, and AVCA all-American honors.
Following her collegiate career, Saleena served at Harvest Christian Academy in Guam for two years as the head coach for girls’ beach volleyball, the head coach for both girls’ middle school and high school indoor volleyball, and the assistant coach for boys’ middle school volleyball. While in Guam, Saleena competed for the Guam National Volleyball Team on both the indoor and beach teams.
After her time in Guam, Saleena returned to South Carolina to play on the AVP grass and beach tour. She continued coaching in the community through both volleyball camps and private lessons. Soon after her return, she also joined the coaching staff of Mauldin High School to help a talented girls’ indoor squad win a 5A state championship title. Many of the girls on the team also achieved all-state and all-region, and one player earned a spot on the Under Armour All-American team.
