Dr. Donald “Willy” Williams, Executive Director

Dr. Williams serves as the Executive Director of Destin High School, bringing more than two decades of educational leadership experience across both domestic and international settings. His work is defined by strategic leadership, organizational effectiveness, and an unwavering commitment to student-centered outcomes.

Prior to serving at Destin High School, Dr. Williams built his career within the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). He began as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Matthew C. Perry Middle High School in Iwakuni, Japan, and later taught in Mannheim and Ramstein, Germany. He subsequently served as an Educational Technology Instructional Systems Specialist in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he supported system-wide instructional innovation before transitioning into school leadership. Dr. Williams then served as assistant principal at Aviano and Sigonella Middle/High Schools in Italy, followed by principalships at Osan Middle High School and both Seoul American Middle/High School and Seoul American High School in South Korea. Building on this foundation, he advanced to the role of Community Superintendent for the Pacific East District in Yokota, Japan, and later served as Community Superintendent for the Pacific South District in Okinawa, Japan. In these senior leadership roles, he led complex, multi-school systems, advancing academic achievement through standards-based instruction, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement practices. Across each stage of his career, Dr. Williams demonstrated a consistent ability to build high-performing teams, strengthen organizational culture, and deliver measurable student outcomes.

Dr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Human Resource Development from Clemson University and a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, where his research examined governance, leadership efficacy, and organizational performance in educational systems.

Beyond his professional work, Dr. Williams values time with his wife, Jamie, and their two adult children, Toy and Kaitlyn. As a family, they enjoy traveling, outdoor activities, cooking, music, and active engagement in the communities they serve.

As Executive Director, Dr. Williams leads with clarity, purpose, and a commitment to excellence. His vision for Destin High School is to cultivate a high-performing, student-centered environment where learners are empowered not only to succeed, but to lead, innovate, and thrive.
