GIRLS WEIGHTLIFTING

Destin Girls Weightlifting Mission Statement
It is the mission of Destin Girls Weightlifting to graduate young women, while instilling the qualities necessary to succeed in life, and develop positive role models in the community.

Destin Girls Weightlifting Vision Statement
It is our vision to be the premier high school weightlifting program in Okaloosa County, while contending for state championships. We seek to create a positive academic and athletic playing experience through a culture focused on attitude, belief, commitment, discipline, and organization.
Program Motto: Sharknado! Anytime a lifter gets a new personal record we Sharknado! A Sharknado represents an unstoppable force of nature.

Program Pillars
Accountability: Being responsible for one’s actions. You will be held accountability to the team and to yourself. When you’re able to hold yourself accountability for your actions, you show self-growth, maturity, and responsibility.
Attitude: We are always in control of our attitude. How we react to every situation not just on the field, but in life is pivotal to an individual’s success. With the right attitude everyone will be able to overcome every obstacle and prepare themselves to be ready for next obstacle that life puts in front of them.
Belief: Pivotal for any team’s success. Without believing in oneself or the team, you have already lost. Belief is confidence in one’s hard work and abilities to get the job done. Our lifters will believe in themselves, and their coaches, based on the hard work and preparation they have put in each week and the knowledge of all the obstacles they have already overcome.
Commitment: The willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful. To successfully reach one’s goals, you must be committed to them. This involves 100% effort day in and day out. Showing up with the right attitude and belief that all the hard work and hours spent will pay off. Setting goals does not matter if one is not committed to do what it takes every day to reach those goals.
Discipline: It is essential to the infrastructure of any program. Discipline starts with doing the little things right every day 365 days a year. An individual that is disciplined will be on time, do what is asked of him, and how it is asked of him. One must be accountable and trustworthy.
Organization: Begins with the Head Coach and filters down into the rest of the program. Proper structure on how and when we do things is pivotal for everyone to be on the same page and get tasks done in an efficient, consistent, and timely manner.
These are qualities that every coach and player within our program needs to possess to achieve the success we aspire to. Being accountable to yourself and the team shows growth in mature and understanding of one’s responsibilities. We will learn to develop a positive attitude, believe in ourselves, teammates, and coaches. Stay committed to the time and effort needed to reach our individual and team goals. Have the discipline to show up every day and do what needs to be done, how it needs to be done to get the job done. Be organized to get our work done in an efficient and timely matter.
